About CNC

This is a bioblitz style global competition, where citizen scientists like you observe and identify plants and animals near you! CNCsoflo encompasses Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe Counties. South Florida has an array of unique environments, both terrestrial and marine, where diverse flora and fauna can be found just outside your door.

Weekend One:

This weekend is all about observations! Any observations made within our SoFlo boundary during Weekend One will contribute to our efforts in the City Nature Challenge! Participation occurs through an app called iNaturalist, where you can shoot and upload pictures. When you upload, identify this species to the best of your ability. If in doubt, leave it unidentified. Because weekend two...

Weekend Two:

...is all about identification! Connect in person or virtually with your SoFlo peers through iNaturalist to best identify species observed in your area. If the identification is precise enough and has community support, an observation can become a Research Quality record of that organism at a location and time.
